Shadowlands is a new World of Warcraft expansion,  which should be released at the end of the 2020 year. In Shadowlands we can expect very big level squish, with new leveling experience, new features such as Covenants, gigantic dungeon called Torghast, Tower of the Damned (which looks very similar to Diablo game series experience),  6 brand new zones and much more. In this Shadowlands overview, we will briefly look at everything the new World of Warcraft expansion has to offer!

New zones & map

In new expansion we will explore Shadowlands, it is an area where death and deceased mortal souls go to yet get their final judgment, and afterwards they are "put" in a specific zone to spend their afterlife time depending on their tales and sins during lifetime.

Oribos, the Eternal City is the new main capital city in Shadowlands where all dead souls arrive. The Arbiter determines our fate and decides where we will spend our afterlife. Oribos is an elevator between various domains of the Shadowlands and gathering place of all the market traders, NPCs, Players, etc.

Maldraxxus is ruled by Necrolord covenants, it is a heart of military souls in Shadowlands, home of necromancers, abominations, and such. While it sounds spooky not all of the Maldraxxian population is evil and bad. Those who wear battle scars and were warriors in their previous life will be warmly welcomed by The Arbiter and Necrolords in there.

Bastion is one of the most beautiful and outstanding zones in the entire World of Warcraft, main theme of bastion are heavens, crystalline spires, and crystal clear skies ruled by the Kyrian covenants. Souls that are sent to Bastion by The Arbiter are those, which seek an ascendance, enlightenment, and strive towards a state of virtue.

Ardenwald is the most nature-close, jungle-based zone in Shadowlands, ruled by the Night Fae covenants. It is a mirror of Azeroth's Emerald dream which mainly focuses on hibernation, rest and a peaceful rebirth of souls within. Only souls close to the nature of forests and wild will be sent to Ardenwald where they will potentially resurrect and rejuvenate.

Revendreth is one of the most unique zones thus far in the entire World of Warcraft, architecture is strictly based on gothic spires and castles, it's a land of the dark secret which is being led by the Venthyr covenants. Sinners who seek redemption through torment are followed to the Revendreth. Revendreth is a zone that is based on the popular comic character "Dracula" and we can see signs of it all across the land.

The Maw

The Maw will be the zone which is called as an "endgame" in Shadowlands, a gigantic, visible from the skies vortex which is composed of the vilest souls sent to the Shadowlands by Jailer. Only the worst criminals go to the Maw, those which cannot be irredeemable and are considered as threat to the world. The Maw contains Torghast, Tower of the Damned Giga dungeon, replayable endgame instance which looks similar to Diablo style of playing.

Covenants system is very similar to the "faction" one from previous expansions of World of Warcraft. There are four powers in Shadowlands which are available at players disposal:

The Kyrian Covenant, Bastion - Those who seek ascension and enlightenment will choose Kyrians, to become one of them. Only those, who look over their past deeds can be Kyrians.

Necrolords, Maldraxxus - warriors, and battle-hardened souls from their past life can choose Necrolords as their covenants. If you will prove your worth you will rise among new covenant and gain new powers with their help.

Venthyr, Revendreth - sinful and prideful during their life can still seek for ascension and redemption. Venthyr punishes those who lived in a sin during their Azeroth adventures but still however are worthy of redemption in Shadowlands.

The Night Fae

The Night Fae, Ardenweald - those who were close to nature and forests will seek for the Night Fae covenant guidance. They use Anima in the Shadowlands to infuse slumbering spirits which prepare for rebirth.

Every covenant offers unique set of class abilities and spells. New system is called Soulbinds and at top of new spells it offers nice cosmetic rewards such as  covenant-themed armor with back details and upgradable mounts. Select your covenant carefully as it might greatly affect your experience in the game and changing it will be a time consuming process!

Covenants give us access to four major features such as:

When you're in Sanctum, you will be able to meet three major members of your Covenant choice. Each offers a unique set of talent tree which effectively affects your character and combat - choose wisely!

Test your tactical and strategic skills by sending your allies into Shadowlands adventures, each covenant has its unique challenges ahead of them. You need to be strategic about how you take on these combat puzzle missions, each mission requires a different approach!

Anima Conductor

You will be able to experience additional content by sacrificing your Anima to activate specific areas.

Transport Network

Experience a new and refreshing way of moving between the zones! You are able to access a zone-specific travel network within your Sanctum, each covenant has its own, unique routing between zones.

 New Resource: Anima

Anima is a new, main resource to gather in Shadowlands. It is a fuel to all Shadowlands, helping Covenants keep their reason and purpose. Anime can be obtained from many activities throughout Shadowlands. Anima can't be grinded infinitely as Artifact Power could be in past expansions, there is specific limit set on how much you can get. Developers told us, that it can be gathered from many things and this time u won't be restricted to one, best way of gaining it (Expedition Islands in BFA).

 New Endgame Content

The Great Vault in Shadowlands is an upgraded version of the weekly M+ cache system. You will be able to earn your cache by completing activities in Raids, M+, and PvP.

New Dungeons

Shadowlands will be initially released with eight traditional dungeons. Four of these are leveling dungeons and the other four are at level cap.
In WoW Shadowlands, at the start, we will have access to eight traditional dungeons. Four of them will be our leveling dungeons and the rest at level cap.

Leveling Dungeons:

Mists of Tirna Scithe
Halls of Atonement
The Necrotic Wake

Level Cap Dungeons:

Spires of Ascension
Sanguine Depths
Theater of Pain
De Other Side

New Raid

First raid of the new expansion will be called Castle Nathria, located in Revendreth. Castle Nathria features 10 bosses and will be opened later during the expansion release. It has gothic, dark themed place which was warlmy welcomed by PTR testers so far.

Torghast, Tower of the Damned

Torghast, Tower of the Damned is a place where once Jailer kept only the most dangerous souls in the cosmos confined in this eternal prison called Torghast. Now we are able to witness its mysteries and fight our way through the Tower of the Damned! We will need to rescue them from Jailer's tower before he will take away every soul.
Whenever you will free Tortured Soul you will receive from them [Freed Soul], currency which you will be able to spend for your Covenants and the buff Soul's Blessing which will increase your primary stat by 1% per soul you will save in Torghast, Tower of the damned dungeon.

Torghast, Tower of the Damned is brand new, infinite-dungeon which will be released during World of Warcraft: Shadowlands premiere. We will be able to play it from 1 to up 5 players at once. Torghast dungeon has a very similar style to the Diablo concept, endlessly replayable, constantly changing its layers dungeon that you can play alone or with a group of friends up to 5.
There is no timer (Mythic+ etc.) to finish it, but instead, you are limited to the death counter. If you will die 3 times jailer will chase you down and kill in the process. When you will progress through Torghast, Tower of the Damned you will be rewarded with very specific and unique spells which will boost up your current character power level. The more you progress the more likely you will be able to receive materials to craft your legendary weapon and armor which will greatly increase your character power in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

Legendaries: The Runecarver

Legendary items will be back in the Shadowlands with a new system of acquiring them! Devs confirmed, that the Legion system was somewhat good, without the RNG part and they most likely will upgrade the system itself. In WoW Shadowlands we will have access to the Runecarver, NPC which creates Legendary artifacts, if you will acquire proper materials required for crafting The Runecarver will craft it for you, it is important to select wisely as each item offer different, unique abilities and stats. To get materials you will have to use Professions.

It is official, long awaited PvP Vendors will be back in Shadowlands expansion!
Once again players will be able to choose specific items for their class and spec in PvP as well as Conquest points to upgrade their items. RUSHBOOST is sure, that this change is great thing, and surely step in the right direction for WoW Shadowlands!

Levels, Items and stats adjusted

Shadowlands pre-patch comes with a massive leveling revamp, featuring not only a level squish but also an item level squish. While the max level during Battle for Azeroth was level 120, the max level is now 50. How does that work? Well, any level 120 characters players had are now 50, and any characters below that will get a similar adjustment. When Shadowlands actually launches, players can level from 50 to 60.

For new characters, the level squish changes everything. Blizzard has completely redone the World of Warcraft questing situation. Instead of questing through Vanilla, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and all the way up through the old expansions, players now just choose one leveling experience.
Once players hit level 10, they’ll speak to Chromie, who will set them on a journey through a single expansion — like the Mists of Pandaria leveling experience, or Warlords of Draenor. The next 40 levels will only take about 10-15 hours depending on the chosen experience and player pace. Once players finish their chosen expansion, they’ll be ready for Shadowlands.

- Stats on all gear have been reduced with the item level squish.
- For the first time, characters will undergo a level squish, with 120 characters going down to level 50.
- There is a brand-new leveling experience for first-time players: Exile's Reach.
- While most races will begin life at level 1, Death Knights and Demon Hunters start at level 8 and Allied Races begin at level 10.
- When leveling from 10-50, you will choose to level in a specific expansion through a new system called Chromie Time / Timewalking Journeys. You will not progress through multiple continents, as in past expansions.
- Newly created Allied Race characters will receive their Heritage Armor and achievements upon reaching level 50 without using any boosts.
- With the Black Empire turned to ash upon the defeat of N’Zoth the Corruptor, Corruption effects on items will no longer function.
- Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve, with Corruption receding, Malefic Core will be temporarily removed from MOTHER until the launch of Shadowlands.
- Heart of Azeroth Rank 4 Essences are no longer obtainable.
- Heirlooms no longer have experience bonuses and now have a set bonus. The new set bonus can be obtained from all Heirloom pieces except weapons and trinkets.

(2) Set: Rested experience consumed is reduced by 30%.
(3) Set: Increases your out-of-combat regeneration in the outdoors, normal dungeons and battlegrounds.

PvP Weapon Illusions can be used by all characters across the account.
