New zones & map
Ardenwald is the most nature-close, jungle-based zone in Shadowlands, ruled by the Night Fae covenants. It is a mirror of Azeroth's Emerald dream which mainly focuses on hibernation, rest and a peaceful rebirth of souls within. Only souls close to the nature of forests and wild will be sent to Ardenwald where they will potentially resurrect and rejuvenate.
Revendreth is one of the most unique zones thus far in the entire World of Warcraft, architecture is strictly based on gothic spires and castles, it's a land of the dark secret which is being led by the Venthyr covenants. Sinners who seek redemption through torment are followed to the Revendreth. Revendreth is a zone that is based on the popular comic character "Dracula" and we can see signs of it all across the land.
The Maw will be the zone which is called as an "endgame" in Shadowlands, a gigantic, visible from the skies vortex which is composed of the vilest souls sent to the Shadowlands by Jailer. Only the worst criminals go to the Maw, those which cannot be irredeemable and are considered as threat to the world. The Maw contains Torghast, Tower of the Damned Giga dungeon, replayable endgame instance which looks similar to Diablo style of playing.
Covenants
Covenants system is very similar to the "faction" one from previous expansions of World of Warcraft. There are four powers in Shadowlands which are available at players disposal:
Kyrian
The Kyrian Covenant, Bastion - Those who seek ascension and enlightenment will choose Kyrians, to become one of them. Only those, who look over their past deeds can be Kyrians.
Necrolords
Necrolords, Maldraxxus - warriors, and battle-hardened souls from their past life can choose Necrolords as their covenants. If you will prove your worth you will rise among new covenant and gain new powers with their help.
Venthyr
Venthyr, Revendreth - sinful and prideful during their life can still seek for ascension and redemption. Venthyr punishes those who lived in a sin during their Azeroth adventures but still however are worthy of redemption in Shadowlands.
The Night Fae
The Night Fae, Ardenweald - those who were close to nature and forests will seek for the Night Fae covenant guidance. They use Anima in the Shadowlands to infuse slumbering spirits which prepare for rebirth.
Every covenant offers unique set of class abilities and spells. New system is called Soulbinds and at top of new spells it offers nice cosmetic rewards such as covenant-themed armor with back details and upgradable mounts. Select your covenant carefully as it might greatly affect your experience in the game and changing it will be a time consuming process!
Covenants give us access to four major features such as:
Soulbinds
When you're in Sanctum, you will be able to meet three major members of your Covenant choice. Each offers a unique set of talent tree which effectively affects your character and combat - choose wisely!

Anima Conductor

Transport Network
Experience a new and refreshing way of moving between the zones! You are able to access a zone-specific travel network within your Sanctum, each covenant has its own, unique routing between zones.
New Resource: Anima
Anima is a new, main resource to gather in Shadowlands. It is a fuel to all Shadowlands, helping Covenants keep their reason and purpose. Anime can be obtained from many activities throughout Shadowlands. Anima can't be grinded infinitely as Artifact Power could be in past expansions, there is specific limit set on how much you can get. Developers told us, that it can be gathered from many things and this time u won't be restricted to one, best way of gaining it (Expedition Islands in BFA).
