Apex Legends is one of the most popular games in 2019 and today we will focus on breaking through basic tips and tricks by RUSHBOOST.
LANDING&LOOTING TIPS AND TRICKS
DROPPING FROM THE SHIP:
If you are new to the game landing further from hot, middle zones might give you more experience and taste of how the game should be played. Landing and dying right away because you are not exactly sure what's going on is not the best thing for new players. Landing further away will let u slowly build up your inventory and knowledge about map&buildings which will boost your skill later on.
DROPPING WITH YOUR TEAM:
Dropping together with your team might feel safer at first but when you will think about loot potential its obvious that it will be very poor. We strongly recommend to land nearby from your team, even next building or structure - in case of enemy you are close enough to support each other and you don't deny your loot potential which will boost up your chances of winning first fights.
One of the most game breaking and crucial things in Apex Legends is Pinging. You can give out and get a lot of information without even speaking to your teammates! Important loot, spotted enemy, objectives, places, dibs of an item you need - it all can be pinged in a very simple way. Learn how to use it properly and most importantly listen to them - they are a game changer which you should know how to use!
UNDERSTANDING ITEM RARITY:
We can split items into a few different types;
Grey = Common
Blue = Rare
Purple = Epic
Gold = Legendary
Light Brown =Light Rounds
Red =Shotgun Shells
Blue = Heavy Rounds
Light Green = Energy Ammo
DAMAGE IS NOT TAKEN FROM FALLING:
Unlike other Battle Royale games where you take damage from falling you should not be worried here! There is no damage taken from falling, so don't be afraid of big jumps in Apex Legends, you can make nice aggressive and defensive plays by using big distance jumps without worrying about HP.
BALLOONS AND SMART USAGE OF THEM:
Start of the game is not the only time you will be soaring skies! There are many balloons located on the map in Apex Legends. You simply scale up the zip line and then on the top you will be re-deployed, it gives you a chance to escape coming zone, getting out of combat or even engaging by surprise another team. Smart usage of balloons many times will be crucial for you and your team.
At the start of each game, you will see on your map ship icon which indicates supply ship. Usually, supply ship is considered as a hot zone as there is gonna be at least few teams landing, however with big risk comes big reward - many times supply ship has great loot to start the game with! You should consider trying that position out sometimes.
BLUE "HOT ZONE":
At the start of the game, you will notice a blue circle in a small area on your map, its called hot zone and it has a higher chance of spawning legendary items which might greatly impact your game. You can expect to have always a fight in such spots, we don't think that risk is worth of the reward, chance of getting such item is very low and usually you end up without items with a high chance of being killed by an enemy who had better starting loot.
Your inventory management and space control are very crucial. You would like to have at least 3 medkits, 3 shield batteries, 6 syringe's and 6 shield cells plus enough ammunition and couple of grenades to make sure you are prepared for every scenario. Well, balanced inventory is one of the most important factors in the game. After every fight try to understand weak points of it and refill it in a proper way so you won't be missing anything during the next fight!
Apex Legends is a very dynamic and fast-paced game with a lot of movement involved in it! Understanding core mechanics might greatly improve not only travel time but also give you an edge in fights. Sliding on momentum when you are moving from the top to the bottom, holstering your weapon in situations where you need to change your position quickly or even good strafing and crouching during the fight might give you great results! Master them and you will be much more successful.
FIGHTING ENEMY - TIPS & TRICKS
At the start of your journey with Apex Legends, you should consider what type of a player you are and which playstyle suits you the best when it comes to your gameplay. Are you are a static player who likes to play slowly and methodical? Focus on playing Caustic, Wattson or Gibraltar. Are you are the aggressive player who likes to move quickly on the field? Consider Pathfinder, Wraith, Octane.
My point is, that every Legend in Apex has different playstyle, spells, and its uniqueness when you play it. Learn your spells to perfection and understand the core mechanics of your character. It's one of the most crucial things which will greatly benefit your gameplay.
In general classic setup consist of 1 machine gun/sniper rifle/wingman + shotgun. You might ask why? Well, the answer is simple, you are very versatile with such setup - You can fight the enemy at both long and short-range, Apex Legends is a fast-paced game in which you need to be prepared in every possible situation. Shotgun gives you great firepower at a short distance and your primary weapon can be used typically on long-distance - It's hard to define best main weapon outside of shotgun, it depends on the preference and gameplay of player.
WHEN TO TAKE A FIGHT:
There is many times situation, where you can decide whether is it worth or not to take a fight. RUSHBOOST recommends strongly to scout and gather information before you do so, you might ask why though, Well sometimes enemy has much better equipment, good armor, and better position - Taking that fight might cause a quick death. Try to do great damage before engaging the enemy, surprise them with good position, use your grenades before engage, If your enemy has weaker armor try to punish him for that and play aggressively - Calculate your odds and play around them. The Aim is important in FPS games, however its not everything and you can greatly increase your chances of winning with adaptation in battle.
Avoid fighting without armor - it's very easy to die without it and using your medkit/syringes is longer than using shield cells/shield batteries!
FIGHTING WITH YOUR TEAM & RECOVERING THEIR BOXES:
As we said earlier, fighting together with your team is very important, however, sometimes you might end up being knocked or even end up dead - that's not a big deal, in Apex Legends you can recover their banner and bring it to respawn beacon and respawn them. Remember that each spawning point can be used only once and your partner will respawn without any gear - also drop ship which respawns your partner is visible and you might be attacked by another team.
DAMAGE DIGITS & COLORS:
Every character has base HP of 100. You can expand that pool with armor up to extra 100 which gives us a total of 200. When you will attack the enemy and see one of the colors - grey, blue, purple, golden its not just the damage you do, it also tells you what their armor type is! Grey means extra 50 hp, Blue extra 75 hp, and Purple/Golden extra 100 hp. If your damage shows in red it means that either armor was broke or they had no armor - its great moment to push up and score your kill!
When you will kill an enemy you will notice a box on their corpse which might have few different colors, its very similar to the damage colors - depending on what they had in their inventory it will show up the best color of an item. Let's say they had purple armor and rest of equipment was blue - it will still show up the best item which is purple in this case. It might give you decent insight on what to expect inside of it and if its worthy of the risk of looting it, be careful, however - you might be exposed and attacked, moving during looting with small A-D strafe is very important!
TIPS & TRICKS FROM RESPAWN - APEX LEGENDS CREATORS:
FROM RESPAWN SOFTWARE ENGINEER JUSTIN COOK:
Long range scopes increase the range you can see Bloodhound's tracking markers
FROM RESPAWN DESIGNER CHAD ARMSTRONG:
Helmets reduce headshot damage, with the amount of the reduction increasing with equipment tier:
White: 30% Reduction
Blue: 40% Reduction
Purple/Gold: 50% Reduction
Unlike shields, helmets never break, and never have to be restored with consumables! To clarify, it's the bonus damage that gets reduced, not the total damage.
Gold equipment has the same stats as Purple equipment, but with a bonus perk:
Helmet - Faster Tacticals and Ultimates
Armor - Refill shields after an execution
Backpack - Health and shield consumables take half as long to use KO Shield - One-Time Self Revive
Gold weapon attachments have unique properties, just like equipment!
Muzzles - Flash hider (reduces muzzle flash)
Scopes - Threat vision (highlights enemies, even through smoke/gas)
There are no gold stocks or magazines.
FROM RESPAWN GAME DESIGNER CARLOS PINEDA:
You can wall-climb to higher areas by jumping and pushing forward. It's not covered in the tutorial but is essential!
Kick those doors in! You can kick and eventually destroy doors by melee'ing them! Also, blow them up with grenades!
Fun Fact: All characters move at the same speed. It only feels like some characters move slower because they have a higher camera height and slower arm animations.
When you have a good handle on all the loot, you can turn on COMPACT LOOT PROMPTS for a more streamlined HUD! It's in the Settings menu.
FROM RESPAWN PRODUCER TINA SANCHEZ:
You can ping empty slots in your inventory to tell your teammates to watch out for loot for you. Can also ping your weapons in there too to let them know you need more ammo.
FROM RESPAWN SENIOR DESIGNER SEAN SLAYBACK:
The ranging marks on EVERY fullscreen (sniper) optic will ALWAYS be accurate for the rifle you're using. Watch the mil dots reshuffle in realtime as you aim far up or down. Use the rangefinder and line up the right tick mark to tag those long-range headshots.
